About this event
New for 2026 is a regular gravel/adventure series, 2-3 times a month on Sunday mornings. Routes will vary from introductory to "spicy", generally running from 15 to 50 miles in length. Terrain will consist of a mix of mostly dirt/gravel, minimal tarmac connecting roads, and occasional sandy sections or singletrack. RwGPS navigation files will be provided for each ride...
A true northwest Michigan classic, the infamous Blood Ride! Actually, I have no idea who or how this got its name, but this route is well known to the local cycling community. Riding it CCW it unfortunately begins with a stretch up busy 4 Mile Rd to Hammond. Beyond that point traffic is light to nonexistent. Lots of pavement and some punchy hills around Arbutus Lake before we finally transition to gravel near Ranch Rudolph. Broomhead to Williamsburg, Bunker Hill to the TART trail. 50/50 gravel/paved, with clean, well-mannered gravel throughout (unless the graders have carved up fresh washboard!). On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, overall this is probably about a 5, but the gravel sections are more like a 3.
