About CCCC
Welcome
The Cherry Capital Cycling Club (CCCC) is comprised of over 500 members of all ages and abilities – from beginner to racing level. Our events calendar is jam-packed with road rides, mountain bike rides, alternative transportation activities, plus fixed gear and Alley Cat rides. Non-members are invited to share several rides with us before joining. Vacationers are welcome. We encourage everyone to ride together for the camaraderie that cycling provides. With CCCC, you're sure to find a ride you are comfortable with so come prepared to HAVE GREAT FUN.
Purpose and Objectives
Our mission is to encourage the use of bicycles; promote bicycle safety; advance, defend, and protect the rights of bicyclists; cooperate with public authorities in the observance of all traffic regulations; offer instruction in the care and proper use of bicycles; provide opportunities for members to socialize with others who have an interest in bicycles; and support local and national biking issues through funding and participation.
Tours
We take great pride in offering the best bicycle tours in Northern Michigan--the very popular Ride Around Torch (RAT) in July and the Leelanau Harvest Tour (LHT) in September. The combination of wonderful volunteers and outstanding scenic roads adds up to very memorable riding. The funds generated by RAT meet our operational needs while LHT supports our local trail system.
Time-Honored Traditions
In the winterride leaders meet to plan the new ride calendar. Vasa Trail and Adopt-A-Road clean-ups plus the Spring Picnic kick-off the cycling season in April and May. The Club supports Smart Commute Week in June. Then in July and September we hold our two fund-raising events. Cycling season winds down with a dinner honoring volunteers. The annual meeting with election of officers is held just before the holidays.
Meetings
Our Executive Board meets the first Wednesday of every month (except July, see calendar) at 6 p.m. at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere, Traverse City, Michigan. Club members are encouraged to attend. If you have an issue to present to the board, please submit your agenda item to the President at least one week before the next scheduled meeting.
